Rancio’s Bike… Stuff?

As the name says, bike stuff goes here, not many interesting things as of now, but big stuff coming :)

The project:

A dubiously thought through, bonkersly large undertaking by a passionate dude that wants to build a site-portfolio to ultimately pursue a career in research and development within the mountain bike industry, encompassing everything from written reviews, articles and pretty bike pictures to all in custom component design and manufacturing.

About yours truly:

I stand at 6’1 and weigh around 240-ish lbs, whith a style some might describe as a bit of a disaster on two wheels. I have a peculiar fondness for flat landings and take pleasure in the symphony of groans and pings that emanate from my wheels whith my questionable line choices on descents. Overheating shocks and brakes oddly bring me joy, and I derive comfort from witnessing trails crumble and give way under my passing. Despite my knack for shortening the life expectancy of any bike I ride, beneath this rough exterior lies a sensitive individual who delves deep into the intricate world of bike handling with unwavering ocd-powered enthusiasm.

In de beninging…

My journey started as a then 13 year old boy punting around his local woods’s unsanctioned trails when i suffered the rapid unplanned disassembly of a shimano rd-m531 and in the hour or so walk home began pondering the intricacies of bikes, their design filosofies, their manufacturing procesess, how durability was balanced with cost, etc. so after asking mom if i could take apart my bike to “fix it” and after a begrudging yes from her, it had started with some simple tinkering, “the engineerening” i call it, a process wich thruought the years has dragged me into researching and exploring increasingly niche corners of “the bike” as a system ranging from the compulsive de-frictionening of brake sealing surfaces to reduce hand fatigue, to custom valvings and one-off prototype fork internals to spoke tension tuned wheels and oh so much more tomfoolery to document and share.

Dabbling in cursedness:

Im all for squeezing that extra bit of performance from anything and everything, calculating changes before making them, measuring every variable, and testing over and over and over again, but sometimes a little bit of trolling can be good for the soul. That is how you end up with the abomination pictured next to this column of text, so its not all seriousness all the time. :)

So?… Whats coming?

A lot of work apparently, ive got a lot of ideas id like to develop in the near future, im building a machine shop next to my house for unlimited custom shenanigans apart from some already ongoing personal projects. im not good at either editing video or talking to a camera so when the first videos come out expect them to be rough. as for written reviews and articles, theres already 6 well underway so maybe i get to an article a month with a bi-annual release magazine style?, i honestly dont know as media in general frightens me, but ive already decided this needs to happen so im ready to dive head first into whatever challenges i may face. (idk wish me luck i guess)
